The 102-year-old Gadsden Country Club in Gadsden, Alabama, is under new management.
Honours Golf of Birmingham announced on Monday that it will take charge of all operations at the facility on Rainbow Drive, including agronomy, food and beverage, and sales and marketing, in addition to golf.
The move was reported on multiple golf industry websites and confirmed on GCC’s Facebook page.
“The Gadsden Country Club is looking forward to this partnership with Honours Golf/Troon,” Jason Weaver, president of the club’s board, was quoted as saying at the Golf Course Industry website. “We feel confident this relationship will take our club to the next level and most importantly increase our member value.”
Honours Golf is a division of Troon, which according to its website is “the world’s largest professional club management company,” providing services to 630 golf courses and 585 locations.
“Gadsden Country Club is an exciting addition to the Honours Golf family,” Matt Hurley, division president, said in the Golf Course Industry report. “We have already begun deploying many of our resources to further elevate the member and guest experience. The future is bright for this historic club.”
GCC’s 18-hole, 6,657-yard golf course was designed by Bill Bergin. Its golf complex includes a fully stocked pro shop, two practice putting greens, a driving range and a practice chipping area.
The club also features a full tennis complex and Olympic-sized swimming pool; and a clubhouse with a full-service culinary and catering staff, and various dining facilities with rooms that can be booked for private events.
According to its website, Honours Golf manages 20 other courses in eight states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and Texas.
Eight of them are in Alabama: Cider Ridge Golf Club in Oxford; Craft Farms Golf Resort, One Club Gulf Shores and Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores; Gateway Park and Lagoon Park Golf Courses in Montgomery; Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham; and Northriver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa.
