While his four fellow teammates all finished inside the top 15, Clemson’s Zack Gordon finished T-43 on the individual leaderboard during the stroke-play session of the ACC Championship.

But when his teammates needed him most in the final match against Florida State, the junior delivered. Gordon earned the crucial third point for the Tigers with a 20-footer for birdie on the 21st hole of a marathon match against the Seminoles’ Grayson Porter to clinch the conference crown.

The Tigers only lead in the final match came following Gordon’s putt, which earned Clemson its 10th ACC title under head coach Larry Penley, who is retiring at the end of this season.

“I really thought we were going to win this tournament in regulation when it appeared Zack was going to win the 18th hole,” said Penley. “But, he three-putted and Porter made a great up and down to tie the hole. Zack went from goat to hero with the birdie on his 21st hole.”
