Golfers will have an opportunity to honor Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice when they play a round over the Memorial Day weekend.
For the first time, Patriot Golf Day will be held in conjunction with the holiday that commemorates our fallen military members.
Patriot Golf Day raises money for Folds of Honor, a non-profit that provides educational scholarships to spouse and children of fallen and disabled service members, and PGA Hope (Help Our Patriots Everywhere), which is part of the PGA of America’s PGA REACH foundation.
Golfers are encouraged to add an extra dollar (or more) to their green fees to support Patriot Golf Day during the Memorial Day weekend.
Since its inception 15 years ago, Folds of Honor has provided more than 10,000 academic scholarships worth about $50 million.
Last year, a string of late contributions helped fuel an additional 1,000 scholarships, and the scholars were notified in the two weeks leading up to Christmas.
PGA HOPE introduces golf to veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional health. The program includes a developmental six-to-eight-week curriculum taught by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency. PGA HOPE impacts more than 2,500 veterans in the U.S.
