Add another top 10 player in the world to the PGA Tour’s new Palmetto Championship at Congaree. World No. 1 Dustin Johnson has already committed to the new Tour event in his native South Carolina, and now world No. 7 Brooks Koepka is in, too.

The Palmetto Championship replaces the RBC Canadian Open on the Tour schedule, an event that was canceled for the second consecutive year as the COVID-19 pandemic lingers. With Koepka’s name now on the entry list, the field is looking stouter. The list of high-profile names who will tee it up at Congaree Golf Club also includes world No. 10 Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood and Ian Poulter. Kevin Kisner, ranked No. 48, also has committed.

The deadline for commitment is Friday June 4 at 5 p.m.

Koepka’s commitment is particularly notable as he recovers from surgery to his right knee. He missed the cut at the Masters, didn’t tee it up again until AT&T Byron Nelson – where he also missed the cut – and then contended two weeks ago at the PGA Championship, falling two shots short of Phil Mickelson.

The Palmetto Championship at Congaree is the week before the U.S. Open, which will be played across the country at Torrey Pines in San Diego.
