It had to be Jon Rahm.
In his first appearance since being forced to withdraw with a six-shot lead before the final round of the Memorial Tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test earlier this month, Rahm won the 121st U.S. Open on Sunday at Torrey Pines in San Diego for his first major title.
The 26-year-old finished at 6 under thanks to a final-round 4-under 67 that was aided by a pair of clutch birdies down the stretch from 24 feet on No. 17 and 18 feet on No. 18 on his final holes. The win is Rahm’s 13th as a professional and first since last August’s BMW Championship.
