Guess who’s back?
Joe LaCava, longtime looper for the likes of Ken Green, World Golf Hall of Fame member Fred Couples, world No. 1 Dustin Johnson and since 2011, one Tiger Woods, is back inside the ropes carrying a golf bag.
LaCava, who was last seen caddying for Woods in the 2020 PNC Championship, where Woods and his son, Charlie, captivated the golf world as they tied for fifth, has reunited with Couples for this week’s Principal Charity Classic on the PGA Tour Champions at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
“Yeah, loopin for Fred in Des Moines. Actually eating pasta watching hockey with him right now,” LaCava said in a text to Golfweek. “Like nothing has changed ten years later! Would kill to be working for TW in Columbus (Ohio at the Memorial).”
Woods is recovering from a serious one-car accident in February in the Los Angeles area that left him with severe injuries to his right leg, knee and foot. LaCava, who has been by Woods’ side for 11 wins on the PGA Tour, including the epic 2019 Masters victory, has not worked since December.
LaCava teamed with Couples for 12 PGA Tour titles, including the 1992 Masters.
“Of course I miss it,” LaCava said. “Love Fred like a brother.”
LaCava said his work this week is one and done.
“Just subbing,” he said.
