McKINNEY, Texas – Hayden Springer remembers coming to his hometown PGA Tour event from as early as age 5 for practice round days on Tuesday and Wednesday with an empty hat and having his dad shove him towards the pros to ask for autographs, telling him, “Don’t be afraid.”

“And I would leave and my hat would be covered in autographs from everybody,” said Springer.

That tournament, now known as the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and held at TPC Craig Ranch, was an annual rite of passage for Springer. He figures he attended the event for seven or eight years in a row and later served as a volunteer with his high school golf teammates from none other than Byron Nelson High School, where Nelson’s widow, Peggy, kept tabs on the team and showed Springer the Masters medal of one of the all-time greats. (Springer also noted that his mother and Peggy still keep in touch via email.) This week Springer, a 27-year-old rookie on the Tour, is set to play the tournament that meant so much to him during his youth for the first time.

“It’s special for me now to get to be playing in this event,” he said. “This was a dream that was in my head to play professional golf, to do it at the highest level. Definitely being able to get up close and just kind of be able to interact, even if it’s just getting an autograph, you know, it definitely helped to fuel that dream.”

Springer recalled following Tim Herron, a favorite of his father’s, having Corey Pavin jog over to sign for him the year Springer had fractured his ankle and hobbled his way, and watching past major winners Sergio Garcia and Vijay Singh groove their swing on the range.

Springer’s journey to being a card-carrying member of the Tour like Nelson, who won five majors during his Hall of Fame career, has had its share of twists and turns. In November, Springer and his wife endured the death of their three-year-old daughter, Sage, to a rare genetic disorder. Earlier that summer, Springer, who played his college golf at TCU, was having another pedestrian season on PGA Tour Canada. He ranked No. 51 in the season-long standings with three events left before running off with two closing wins.

“If I don’t make that putt to make the cut in Wichita, I wasn’t even in any Canada events, right? Thinking about it, maybe I wouldn’t even have been able to play any events in Canada and maybe I’m starting at first stage of Q-School this past year. That’s a pretty tough spot to be in,” he said.

Instead, he won the Order of Merit, which earned him a spot in the final stage of PGA Tour Q-School. It also happened to be the return of five cards being up for grabs to jump straight to the big leagues. Springer hung on to finish fifth and make his dream come true.

As a rookie, Springer has made five cuts in nine starts and ranks No. 127 in the FedEx Cup point standings. His iron play was dialed in during the Puerto Rico Open and he posted four rounds in the 60s and finished T-3, his best result to date.

“There is such a fine line in terms of playing well and then not playing well,” he said.

This week, the pride of Byron Nelson High School will have a large contingent of supporters in his gallery. He grew up playing at Victory Golf Club, about 40 minutes away, and he expects members from the club and friends from high school to come out to watch him. He’s played at TPC Craig Ranch a handful of times dating to junior golf days and made a few trips this year knowing that this date with destiny would soon come to fruition at the tournament that fueled his dream.

“It’s kind of a cool story to have played at Byron Nelson High School and now to be playing in this event,” he said.

The R&A announced a multi-year agreement Monday that will see NetJets become the official private jet provider for The Open.

Golf’s oldest and perhaps most cherished major is big business. And it’s getting bigger. The last time The Open was at Royal Troon in 2016, a total of 173,000 spectators watched golfing affairs unravel.

This July, when the championship returns to the Scottish coast, a whopping 250,000 will file through the gates in the kind of mass stampede you’d get with a migration of Wildebeest.

The 152nd staging of The Open will have the third highest attendance in history, after the 290,000 that were shoehorned into St. Andrews for the 150th bonanza in 2022 and the 260,000 that descended on Hoylake last year.

“It’s a clear sign of the size of The Open,” said The R&A’s director of championship operations, Rhodri Price, who noted that some 22,500 will be under 25 while 13,000 will be part of the Kids Go Free initiative. “That’s testament to what The Open does for youngsters.”

With the vast Open infrastructure being clattered and rattled up and transforming the Royal Troon surrounds into an officially-branded town of its own, the stage continues to be set.

The robust links will play to a total of 7,385 yards, up by 195 yards on the 2016 championship. At a formidable 623 yards, the par-5 sixth will be the longest hole in Open history.

This wheezing correspondent just about required fistfuls of Kendal Mint Cake and a sherpa to complete the great hike as we gasped and wheezed through a series of mighty blows in the media outing yesterday.

Two holes later, players will square up to the shortest hole in the championship’s history at the celebrated Postage Stamp.

The par-3 eighth, the scene of German amateur Hermann Tissies’ grisly 15 in the 1950 Open, measures just 123 yards on the scorecard but organizers can knock that down to a mere 99 yards with a front pin if they fancy.

Unsurprisingly, the Postage Stamp will be a significant feature of The Open presentation. TV cameras will be dug into all five bunkers that surround the tiny green to capture all manner of sandy escapades while a wraparound grandstand with 1,500 seats will be a much sought-after vantage point.

Play begins on July 18.

LIV Golf picks new course near Chicago for 2024 individual championship event

Nearly midway through its 14-event 2024 season, LIV Golf has finally announced the host course for its regular season finale.

Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, Illinois, 30 minutes outside of Chicago, will host the 2024 Individual Championship, Sept. 13-15, ending the league’s two-year relationship with Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, May 8.

The 13th tournament of the season, the LIV Golf Chicago event will determine team seeds for the 2024 Team Championship (location to be announced), crown the season’s individual champion and solidify player status for 2025.

“The passionate sports fans of Chicago have embraced the intense competition and fan-first experience that LIV Golf delivers, and this year it will be an incredible setting for a high-stakes event as players battle it out for the individual title and a roster spot for 2025,” said Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman. “We’re thrilled to return to Illinois with an event at Bolingbrook Golf Club as we celebrate the season-long race and set the stage for the 2024 finale.”

For those unfamiliar with Bolingbrook Golf Club, the course was designed by architect Arthur Hills and his partner Steve Forrest, and features a 156-yard island green on the 15th hole.

Golf course architect Pete Dye probably didn’t envision anyone driving the par-4 13th hole when he designed TPC Louisiana with a back tee at nearly 400 yards long.

But no one told Ryan Brehm, who flirted with the second ace in PGA Tour history on a par 4. (Andrew Magee at the 17th at TPC Scottsdale is the only one to do so.) Brehm, whose lone win is at the 2022 Puerto Rico Open, took dead aim and launched a sweeping draw (191 ball speed and an apex of 123 feet). CBS’s Frank Nobilo wondered if it would clear the final bunker.

“Oh, it carried,” Colt Knost, who was walking with the group, confirmed.

And it ran on to the green and skirted by the cup at the 391-yard hole. Unfortunately, his partner, Mark Hubbard, couldn’t convert the eagle putt but Brehm cleaned up for the birdie to move a stroke closer to the lead.

Brendan Steele wins 2024 LIV Golf Adelaide, which features first ever team playoff

After 28 tournaments a LIV Golf event finally came down to a team playoff.

Ripper GC, the all-Australian team led by Cameron Smith, beat the South African Stinger GC squad on the second playoff hole to win 2024 LIV Golf Adelaide at the Grange Golf Club.

“This is unreal,” said Smith after the playoff alongside teammates and countrymen Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Lucas Herbert. “It’s a dream come true for us.”

In LIV’s team playoff format, the lowest cumulative score wins, all four players compete and each score counts.

“You couldn’t have staged a better place to do the first playoff,” said Oosthuizen. “Probably couldn’t script it better with the Rippers winning. We had chances. We had two putts on the first hole. And I hit a good putt on the second playoff hole as well. Some days they go in, some days they don’t.”

On the individual side, 41-year-old Brendan Steele took home the trophy after a 4-under 68 on Sunday to win by one shot at 18 under over Stinger captain Louis Oosthuizen.

“Really surreal,” said Steele of his first win since the 2017 Safeway Open on the PGA Tour (now the Fortinet Championship). “I’m pretty overwhelmed, but to win this event is really special. I can’t say enough good things about the fans and the golf course and the whole experience this week.”

According to LIV, more than 90,000 fans attended the tournament over the three days of play.

Oosthuizen (65) finished at 17 under just ahead of five players T-3 at 16 under: Andy Ogletree (65), Jon Rahm (64), Charl Schwartzel (64), Dean Burmester (67) and Joaquin Niemann (66).

The league heads to Sentosa Golf Club next week, May 3-5, for 2024 LIV Golf Singapore, where Talor Gooch and RangeGoats GC will look to defend their individual and team titles.

The former BYU teammates flirted with 59 on Saturday but settled for a 12-under 60 after making par on their final three holes in the best ball format.

One shot back are Luke List and Henrik Norlander at 22 under, while the Mark Hubbard/Ryan Brehm and Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry teams are two back at 21 under.

The purse at the Zurich Classic is $8.9 million with $1,286,050 million going to each member of the winning team. The winners will also receive 400 FedEx Cup points each.

Keep your head on a swivel.

That’s what LIV Golf is likely to be telling its players and caddies heading into Sunday’s final round of LIV Golf Adelaide at The Grange Golf Club in Australia, where Brendan Steele sits at 14 under after the second round and one in front of Danny Lee heading to Sunday. Aussie favorite Cameron Smith sits only three shots back.

The fans at the Adelaide event have been the best for LIV Golf now for the second straight year, with people coming in droves Down Under to watch professional golf. With its own rendition of a party hole, the “Watering Hole,” there have also been plenty of scenes getting a bit too rowdy for a golf tournament, but who says we can’t have some fun?

However, as is the case often times when alcohol is involved, some fans took it way too far Saturday. Aussie Lucas Herbert was lining up a 6-foot par putt and knocked it in on the Watering Hole, and fans went berserk. So much so that when his caddie was putting the flag stick in the hole, he got smoked in the head by a bottle and went down.

All for fans celebrating and having fun at golf tournaments. That’s fun to watch and be a part of. But throwing things intentionally near players and caddies? Yeah, no thank you.

Here are five notable teams that missed the cut at the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans

AVONDALE, La. — If you are going to miss a cut at a PGA Tour event, there are worse cities to do it in than New Orleans, which in addition to hosting the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this week, is also filled with music right thanks to the famous New Orleans Jazz Fest. If that wasn’t enough, this great food town is also hosting a seafood festival, so teams that couldn’t card enough birdies at TPC Louisiana can drown their sorrows in gumbo, Hurricanes and blues music.

While the two-man teams who made the 8-under cut (136) will be fighting for a share of an $8.9 million purse and 400 FedEx Cup points each, including co-leaders Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry, below are some of the notable golfers who missed the cut at the 2024 Zurich Classic.

Crown Colony CC in Texas undergoes renovation by Trey Kemp, John Colligan

Golf course architects Trey Kemp and John Colligan have started a project to restore the playing conditions at Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin in eastern Texas.

Originally designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge, Crown Colony opened in 1979. The semi-private club offers stay-and-play packages.

“The course has been kept in great shape over the years, but the greens have gotten smaller, the bunkers have lost their original shapes and the time has come for many of the components to be updated,” Kemp said in a media release announcing the news.

Work will include expanding the greens, which have shrunk, as most greens do over time. Kemp and Colligan have enlisted Sanders Golf Course Construction to help rebuild the greens and the bunkers. Other work will focus on the course’s bridges, tree trimming, tees and drainage.

“The renovation will address aesthetics, playability and maintenance elements of the course in an effort to take it back to its original grandeur,” Colligan said in the media release. “Trey and I are very honored to have this opportunity to restore such a great piece of Texas golf history.”

Kemp and Colligan’s renovation began April 1 and is scheduled to be completed in October.

Kemp and Colligan have teamed up on past projects such as Brackenridge Park Golf Course in San Antonio, Stevens Park Golf Course in Dallas and Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas.

AVONDALE, La. – There is only one event on the PGA Tour where an opening-round score of 64 could land you in a tie for 20th, the Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana. The course is not a pushover, but the tournament’s two-man team format combined with foursomes competition in the first round lends itself to seriously low scores.

After the first day of play, four teams share the lead at 11-under 61: Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard; Patton Kizzire and Ben Kohles; David Lipsky and Aaron Rai; and Ryder Cup stars Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy.

On Friday, the tournament format changes to foursomes, which is also known as alternate shot. The low 33 teams (and ties) will make the cut and qualify for the weekend.

Conference championship season is underway in women’s college golf, with all roads leading to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, next month.

Teams who win their conference title score an Automatic Qualifying spot in NCAA Regionals, which is a big deal for any team that might find itself on the bubble for an at-large postseason selection. A win earns you a postseason bid and gets you closer to a spot in the NCAA Championship.

Thirty women’s teams will make it to La Costa, matching the men for the second year in a row.

Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay team up alongside fried oysters, crawfish, gumbo at Zurich Classic of New Orleans

AVONDALE, La. — With fried oysters and crawfish served on the driving range and gumbo simmering in hospitality areas, no stop on the PGA Tour packs more flavor than the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana.

The first shots of this year’s tournament will be hit on Thursday, the same day as the start of New Orleans Jazz Fest, and with the weather forecast calling for sunshine and warm temperatures to last through the week, the whole Bayou is primed for another party.

With its blend of Creole, Cajan, Spanish and West African influences, New Orleans is one of America’s unique cities, so it is fitting that this tournament has been unique on the PGA Tour schedule for the last seven years.

Starting in 2014, the Zurich has been the PGA Tour’s only two-man team event. Highlighting the field this year is an Irish duo, Ryder Cup stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, along with the defending champions, Davis Riley and Nick Hardy, and the 2022 winners, American Ryder Cup standouts Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay.

ZURICH: 10 teams to watch | Thursday tee times

“We started as a team at the Presidents Cup in Australia (in 2019),” Cantlay said after playing some practice holes with Schauffele on Tuesday afternoon. “Fred Couples and Tiger Woods put us together. They thought that with both of us being from California and being a similar age that we’d make a good pairing. We had a great time that week and won some pivotal matches.”

Instead of the typical 72-hole, stroke-play format used at nearly all PGA Tour events, the Zurich Classic features 18 holes of four-ball (commonly referred to as best ball) in the first and third rounds, with each golfer playing his ball and the lowest score counting for that hole. In the second and fourth rounds, the format changes to 18 holes of foursomes, which is often referred to as alternate shot. In those rounds, players will take turns hitting the same ball, which invariable rachets up the pressure because no one wants to hit a bad shot and leave his partner in a tough spot.

Standing in the shade behind the 18th hole’s grandstands Tuesday, Schauffele could not remember an instance of Cantlay putting him in a bad spot during alternate shot. However, he remarked that Cantlay had bailed him out several times after Schauffele felt he hit a less-than-great shot.

“Patrick is such a good chipper and it’s so hard around here,” Schauffele said. “There’ve been several times when he’ll leave me in a green-light spot, when you’ll get up-and-down 80 percent of the time or more, and then I’ll hit it to like 7 feet. Deep down, I know that he’d hit it to 2 feet or a tap in. Even the year we won, there were three or four holes in a row when he hit me to tap-in range. We’ll smile and start laughing, then I’d hit it to like 8 feet and he’d make the 8-footer.”

New Orleans has hosted Super Bowls and Final Fours and annually is home to massive Mardi Gras parades. Bourbon Street is probably the most “well hydrated” 13 blocks in the United States. If you want a great meal and a good time, this is the place to be. But, with more than $1.2 million going to each member of the winning team, along with a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour, entry into the three remaining signature events and 400 FedEx Cup points, the party needs to be put on hold. And, in some ways, this week is a first audition for bigger things to come this fall.

“It’s a warm-up, of sorts,” Schauffele said. Pat and I have been around each other for several years, competing on teams together, and it’s always a goal for both of us to qualify for Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups. This is a nice warm-up.”

Inspirational World Golf Hall of Famer still firing in competition: 'There’s a lot of dead people who would love to ... shoot 83'

PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida — Few people on this planet have hit more golf shots than Jupiter resident Dennis Walters, certainly not from a wheelchair.

Walters estimates he has hit more than 7 million shots during the last 47 years since he became paralyzed after a golf cart accident. More than 99 percent of those swings came during trick-shot shows that Walters started doing after his dream of becoming a professional golfer was shattered.

On Monday, it was time to deal with the other 1 percent – playing tournament golf. The World Golf Hall of Famer shot a 12-over 83 during the first round of the USDGA Championship at PGA Golf Club, and he tried to keep it in perspective.

“I’m 74 and I’ve been sitting in a wheelchair for 50 years, and I shot 83,” Walters said. “There’s a lot of dead people who would love to be in my shoes and shoot 83.

“I’m not complaining about a darn thing.”

Of course, Walters wishes his score would have been lower. So does every other golfer.

But the 83 he shot on the Ryder Course was good enough to leave him tied for second, two shots behind Justin Miller in the Seated Division. Walters is the defending champion here and won the Seated Division title in the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open in 2022.

“I really did hit some good shots, but not with the scoring shots,” Walters said. “I almost holed a bunker shot, but I missed a 1-foot putt. I didn’t drive it as good, and that’s usually the best part of my game.”

So what does Walters do after the six-hour round? He heads to the putting green to work on his short game.

“He played bad today, and he’s out here grinding like Bernhard Langer would be,” said Russ Holden, who used to caddie for Langer and serves as Walters’ assistant on the course. “His drive never stops. And what’s amazing is he hasn’t played ‘regular golf’ in 47 years. He epitomizes what a World Golf Hall of Famer should be.”

Each of the 90 players competing in the USGDA Championship has overcome plenty to tee it up this week at PGA Golf Club. Watching golfers swing with one arm, one leg, in a wheelchair or with neurological issues is a sight to behold.

Even if most wish they were elsewhere.

“This is one golf tournament you don’t want to be eligible for,” Walters said. “But if you are, and you’re here, that’s a heckuva thing.”

Walters said people thought he was crazy when he started doing his trick-shot shows across the country. He did more than 150 a year in his prime, and he will do more than 50 this year.

He never expected to someday be playing in competition against other disabled golfers. The USDGA, run by the U.S. Disabled Golf Association and Presented by the PGA of America, is in its sixth year; the USGA-run U.S. Disabled Open will hold its third event this summer.

“I’m so grateful for the PGA of America and the U.S. Disabled Golf Association for giving us this opportunity,” Walters said. “It’s not so much for me than for the younger ones. It’s great they have it and there’s an avenue open for competitive golf.”

Chris Biggins of Birmingham, Ala., leads the men’s overall division after shooting an even-par 71 to give him a two-shot advantage over defending champion Chad Pfeifer, 2022 champion Eli Villanueva and Albert Bowker. Five-time PGA Tour champion Ken Green (74) of West Palm Beach is tied for fifth with Kenny Bontz.

“I have to be more aggressive with my irons,” said Green, who had four bogeys and one birdie. “It’s hard to make birdies when you’re not hitting your irons close.”

Reigning U.S. Adaptive Open champion Ryanne Jackson of Seminole (80) leads the women’s division by a shot over Natasha Stasiuk. Defending champion Bailey Bish is tied for third with Amanda Cunha.

Villanueva is tied for the Senior Division lead with George Willoughby (73) of Danville, Va. The 54-hole event runs through Wednesday.

The USDGA Championship is run by the U.S. Disabled Golf Association and Presented by the PGA of America.

LPGA all-time money list top 20 topped by Annika Sorenstam

The LPGA has three members of the $20 million club, five who have won at least $17 million in on-course earnings, 24 with $10 million or more and 81 who have earned at least $5 million.

Annika Sorenstam leads the way. Sorenstam, Karrie Webb and Cristie Kerr are the three golfers who have surpassed $20 million.

Nellly Korda, with her win the 2024 Chevron Championship, her second major, is the 23rd player in LPGA history to surpass $11 million.

Scottie Scheffler leads 2024 RBC Heritage by 5 but will have to wait until Monday for another jacket

Scottie Scheffler will have to wait until Monday to add another colorful jacket to his closet and become the first reigning Masters champion to win the RBC Heritage the following week since Bernhard Langer in 1985.

One week after Scheffler slipped into the famed Green Jacket awarded to the Masters champ for the second time in three years, only Mother Nature could delay the 27-year-old Texan from winning the Heritage’s trademark Tartan Jacket on Sunday in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Inclement weather suspended play for more than two hours, preventing the completion of play before darkness. Play will resume on Monday at 8 a.m. ET.

“I’ll treat tomorrow like I’m playing 18 holes and do all my normal prep work and come out here ready to go for the restart,” Scheffler said.

Scheffler was 4-under through 15 holes in the final round and 20-under overall when play was suspended due to darkness, and five shots ahead of Wyndham Clark (65) and Patrick Cantlay (who is just off the 18th green playing his third shot) in his bid to win for the second straight week and for the fourth time in his last five starts. JT Poston (thru 17) and Sahith Theegala (thru 15) are also tied for second.

Scheffler is seeking his 10^th career Tour title since February 2022. He finished second in the only tournament he did not win during his recent run of success. As a result, Scheffler already has surpassed more than $15 million in earnings this season and would be in line to bank another $3.6 million if he hangs on for the win.

After winning the Masters, Scheffler flew home to Dallas to be with his pregnant wife Meredith and didn’t show up to Hilton Head until Tuesday. He played only a nine-hole practice round on Wednesday and spotted much of the field a head start on Thursday, shanking a bunker shot at his third hole in the first round, making double bogey and needing two late birdies to post 69. He trailed by six and complained of fatigue. But after recharging his batteries, he didn’t make a single bogey or worse. He shot 65 on Friday and was lurking three back before reminding everyone who is boss with a bogey-free 63 to claim a two-stroke lead.

Scheffler laid down the hammer early, chipping in at the par-5 second hole from 53 feet for eagle. It marked his 11^th hole-out of the season. He tacked on a birdie at the par-5 fifth and strung together six consecutive pars before the horn blew.

Wyndham Clark mounted an early charge, making an eagle and six birdies in his first 11 holes to inch within a stroke of the lead. But his effort to run down Scheffler was spoiled at the 12^th hole when Clark’s tee shot sailed right into a stand of trees and he tried to punch between them. His ball struck a tree and ricocheted out of bounds. He made double bogey.

“It was kind of fun for a little bit,” Clark said. “Seemed like maybe we had a chance to do something crazy.”

Play was suspended due to inclement weather at 4:28 p.m. ET, with Scheffler, one of 18 players in the field needing to complete his round, in the fairway on the 11^th hole. Play resumed after a two-hour, 32-minute delay. Scheffler proceeded to wedge to 6 feet at the short par-4 13^th and reach 20 under. He had played 53 consecutive holes without scoring five or worse, dating to the 15^th hole in his first round. But at 15, he complained of a mud ball that sent his 4-iron layup at the par 5 to the left and into a penalty area. Scheffler’s streak with no worse than a four on the scorecard ended, but he holed an 11-foot par putt to remain at 20 under with three holes to go. Scheffler had the option to wait until the morning and take advantage of better lighting and smoother greens, but he chose to attempt the putt.

“I felt like I had good momentum,” Scheffler explained. “I kind of knew what the putt was doing. I felt like today was a day where I hit a lot of really good putts and they weren’t really dropping. I felt like I was due for one to drop. So I figured might as well hit it now.”

Added Scheffler: “I felt like the par was pretty important tonight, just being able to go to sleep and still keeping a clean card.”

How dominant has Scheffler been this week? He tops the field of 69 in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, SG: Tee to Green, SG: Approach the Green and scrambling.

“The only thing that can stop Scottie is Meredith going into labor,” CBS’s Jim Nantz said. “It’s true, he’s said it all along.”

Arizona night golf league debut features $1 million hole-in-one contest

Grass Clippings Rolling Hills has had a smashing debut as the go-to destination for night golf in Arizona.

This week, the golf course debuted the Grass Clippings Open, a two-day, high-stakes par 3 tournament that concludes under the lights Saturday night with a live stream on Youtube and a $1 million prize for a hole-in-one on the 18th hole.

The live stream will be from 6-9 p.m. Arizona time (9 p.m. to midnight ET) on the Bleacher Report YouTube channel.

There are 75 two-person teams competing for a $100,000 purse in a no-stroke, scramble, low-gross format at the City of Tempe golf course, Arizona’s first fully lit 18-hole golf course, which officially debuted night golf on Dec. 1, 2023.

The festivities also feature concerts, with Easton Corbin headlining the Friday show and LANCO headlining Saturday night.

The teams competing consist of 20 “franchise” teams, 18 teams who had to first survive qualifying and 13 sponsor exemptions. Future events will have spots reserved for past champions.
