They call it Golf’s Longest Day but for those who survived and advanced, it’s the fullfillment of a dream.
Final qualifying for the 2024 U.S. Open was already held at three locations on May 20, but on Monday, there were 10 more, one in Canada and nine across eight states, from the East Coast to West, with hundreds of golfers competing over 36 holes at each locale for a golden ticket to Pinehurst No. 2 in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The field for the Open, which takes place June 13-16, will be 156, with 44 of those entries coming Monday, a day that started with 687 golfers from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf as well as a slew of amateurs.
